Resolution of the Mayor and Council of Princeton Authorizing the Acceptance of Donations in Furtherance of Possible Design and Construction of a New Nassau Street Kiosk

WHEREAS, Princeton is in the process of updating the Nassau Street streetscape; and
WHEREAS, as part of the foregoing project, Princeton intends to remove the two existing kiosks along Nassau Street and possibly construct a new kiosk at the corner of Nassau Street and Vandeventer Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the community has expressed interest in the design of the new kiosk; and
WHEREAS, the American Institute of Architects of New Jersey (“AIANJ”), a non-profit organization, wishes to administer/oversee/hold a competition for the design of the new kiosk in which a local business is providing the funds for prize amounts; and
WHEREAS, AIANJ intends to donate the winning and other kiosk designs to Princeton for potential use for a new kiosk design; and
WHEREAS, the kiosk design competition administered by the AIANJ shall not support a for-profit organization or purpose; and
WHEREAS, in appreciation for the donation of the $10,000 prize amount, Princeton will recognize the donor on a placard that will be installed on the kiosk if and when it is constructed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Princeton Council on this 27th day of May, 2025, that:
1. The above preamble is incorporated herein as if set forth at length.
2. Princeton will receive the donation of the winning and other kiosk designs as a result of the design competition being held by the American Institute of Architects of New Jersey that may be used if and when the kiosk at the corner of Nassau Street and Vandeventer Avenue is constructed.
3. The contribution of $10,000 towards the prizes amounts for the AIANJ-administered kiosk design competition shall be recognized at a future time on a placard to be installed on the new kiosk, if and when constructed.
4. A copy of this Resolution shall be placed on file in the Office of the Municipal Clerk.
