Resolution of the Mayor and Council of Princeton Appointing Vilius (Will) Jankauskas as Tax Assessor for the Municipality of Princeton

WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-146 et seq. and ยง B2-5.12 of the Code of the Municipality of Princeton, the Mayor, with the advice and consent of Council, appoints the Municipal Tax Assessor; and
WHEREAS, a vacancy exists in the office of Municipal Tax Assessor, and N.J.S.A. 40A:9-146 requires every Municipality to provide for the appointment of a Tax Assessor; and
WHEREAS, the current tenured Tax Assessor has retired; and
WHEREAS, Vilius (Will) Jankauskas holds a valid New Jersey Tax Assessor Certificate and possesses the qualifications required to serve as Municipal Tax Assessor; and
WHEREAS, is the desire of the Mayor and Council of the Municipality of Princeton to appoint Vilius (Will) Jankauskas to fill the term of office starting on October 1, 2026 and for a four-year appointment pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-148; beginning July 1, 2027 to June 30, 2031.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Municipality of Princeton, County of Mercer, State of New Jersey, as follows:
1. The Council hereby gives its advice and consent to the Mayor's appointment of Vilius (Will) Jankauskas as Municipal Tax Assessor for the Municipality of Princeton.
2. Vilius (Will) Jankauskas is hereby appointed to fill the term of office starting on October 1, 2026 and for a four-year appointment pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-148; beginning July 1, 2027 to June 30, 2031.
4. The Municipal Tax Assessor shall perform all duties of the office in accordance with applicable law and the Code of the Municipality of Princeton.
5. Compensation shall be in accordance with the applicable salary ordinance and other applicable actions of the governing body.
