Resolution of the Mayor and Council Authorizing the Award of a Bid Contract to Earle Asphalt Company for Improvements to Mount Lucas Road for $2,055,413.13

WHEREAS, in response to a Notice to Bidders duly advertised pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-1 et seq. on June 6, 2025, Princeton received and publicly opened the following four (4) bids for the Improvements to Mount Lucas Road Bid; and
$2,055,413.13 from Earle Asphalt Company of Farmingdale, New Jersey
$2,222,000.00 from Vollers Escavating & Construction, Inc. of North Branch, New Jersey
$2,500,168.26 from Grade Construction of Paterson, New Jersey
$2,565,034.07 from S. Brothers Inc. of Manalapan, New Jersey
WHEREAS, department personnel and the Qualified Purchasing Agent have reviewed the bids and determined that the bid submitted by Earle Asphalt Company is the lowest responsible and responsive bid and recommend that a contract for Improvements to Mount Lucas Road be awarded to Earle Asphalt Company; and
WHEREAS, the Certified Financial Officer certifies that Princeton has appropriated sufficient funds for these services in budget account 04-215-21-021-076-333.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of Princeton, County of Mercer, State of New Jersey, as follows:
1. The Mayor and Council are hereby authorized and directed to enter into an agreement with Earle Asphalt Company for Improvements to Mount Lucas Road for an amount not to exceed $2,055,413.13 in accordance with the specifications, terms, and conditions within the Bid Documents.
2. The Contract and Bid Documents will be kept on file in the Office of the Clerk.
