Resolution of the Mayor and Council of Princeton Authorizing the Submission of an Award Extension Request for the Terhune Road Pedestrian Improvements Safe Streets to Transit Project (LA-2024-SST-00038) to the New Jersey Department of Transportation

WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has awarded a $1,000,000 Safe Streets to Transit grant to Princeton for the Terhune Road Pedestrian Improvements (LA-2024-SST-00038); and

 

WHEREAS, the Safe Streets to Transit grant stipulated that a construction contract must be awarded by November 27, 2025; and

 

WHEREAS, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has classified the project as a major development subject to stormwater management and requires that a permit be obtained; and

 

WHEREAS, an application has been submitted to NJDEP, which also requires review by the Delaware and Raritan Canal Commission (DRCC); and

 

WHEREAS, review by NJDEP and DRCC may require changes to the plans, specifications, and estimates; and

 

WHEREAS, Princeton is requesting a six (6) month award extension to allow for NJDEP and DRCC review and final submission to NJDOT.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of Princeton formally approves the request for a six (6) month award extension for the above stated project.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Clerk of Princeton are hereby authorized to sign the six (6) month award extension request on behalf of Princeton (Mercer) and that their signatures constitute acceptance of the terms and conditions of the grant agreement.
