Resolution of the Mayor and Council of Princeton Authorizing the Submission of an Award Extension Request for “LA-2025 MA Princeton (Mercer) North Harrison Street Improvements - Nassau St. to Franklin Ave. 11” Municipal Aid Grant Project to the New Jersey Department of Transportation

WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has awarded a $818,256.00 Municipal Aid grant to Princeton for the North Harrison Street Improvements from Nassau Street to Franklin Avenue (LA-2025-MA-00018); and
WHEREAS, the Municipal grant stipulated that a construction contract must be awarded by November 13, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Municipality submitted a final Plans, Specifications, and Estimate package to NJDOT; and
WHEREAS, NJDOT provided comments and requested an application for a Highway Occupancy Permit (HOP) be submitted due to the project limits in proximity to State Highway 27 (Nassau Street) and detour route being on the State Highway; and
WHEREAS, review by NJDOT Traffic Engineering is required, which may provide additional comments that will be required to be addressed; and
WHEREAS, Princeton is requesting a three (3) month award extension to allow for NJDOT Traffic Engineering review the application for the HOP and final submission to NJDOT.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of Princeton formally approves the request for a three (3) month award extension for the above stated project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Clerk of Princeton are hereby authorized to sign the three (3) month award extension request on behalf of Princeton (Mercer) and that their signatures constitute acceptance of the terms and conditions of the grant agreement.
